Story

TRESA D. SMITH

Writer and Producer

The writer, Ms. Tresa Diane Smith is a child of God who is a motivational speaker, an Author, a Humanitarian, and an Advocate for Social Ills that plague our community.  She is the Founder/Director of Agape's Safe Haven, Inc., a non-profit organization that directs and guides intergenerational females in need.  She is a Volunteer with many Agencies throughout the city.

In 1985 the Late Arch Bishop Jimmy Lee Smith was pleased when she started MAD for Christ Drama Ministry at Beulah Baptist Church.

Her yearning for theater grew greater and greater when much to her delight, Dr. Kerwin B. Lee gave Ms. Smith the opportunity to organize the Music, The Arts and Drama (MAD) For Christ Ministry at Berean Christian Church in 1998.

For the past 38 years, Ms. Smith’s productions have been faith-based topics that addressed social ills that plague today’s society, whether it was teen pregnancy, homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, Lupus, Organ Transplants, Domestic Violence and other illnesses.

The year 2022 proved to be a most exciting year. Starting in July, BeThe Match declared Ms. Smith as a dedicated Ambassador during the Pandemic. In November Commissioner Lorraine Cochran Johnson nominated her as a Lou Walker Community Inaugural Spirit of DeKalb County Awards.

Life really took off for Ms. Smith when Congressman Hank Johnson awarded her as a Trailblazer during National Women's History Month in March, 2023.

Now this is a prime example of an individual entering the race to run on to the finish line, regardless of the distractions or challenges that life will throw your way.

Ms. Smith is the proud mother of an adult daughter, and she lavishes over her grandson who is a graduate of California Southern University of North Ridge.

Currently this lady is on fire for the Lord and she intends to continue her late parents' legacy, the Rev. Jack and Mother Mattie Mae Myers Smith, by always being a shining light in someone's life each day.
